How to Get Listed on Server Discovery Print

  • 0

Hytale's Server Discovery lets players find and join community servers directly from inside the game. Getting listed gives your server visibility to the entire Hytale player base without relying on third-party sites or Discord posts.

This guide walks you through the full process from start to finish.

Before You Start

Your server must be using User Authentication, not GSP Authentication, to appear in Server Discovery. Servers running under GSP Authentication are not eligible for listing.

If you are currently using GSP Authentication and need to switch, see our guide: GSP vs User Authentication.

Step 1: Create a Server Profile

  1. Go to the Hytale Account Manager and sign in.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Server Profiles, then click Create Server.
  3. Fill in your server details:
    • Name — your server's display name
    • Description — a short summary of what your server offers
    • Server Type — choose the category that best fits your server (Survival, Adventure/RPG, Creative, PvP, Minigames, Roleplay, Social, Sandbox, or Other)
    • Audience — select who your server is intended for (Everyone, Teen, or Mature)
    • Regions — select the regions your server serves
  4. Click Save when you are done.

Step 2: Verify Your Domain (Custom Domains Only)

If your server uses a custom domain (e.g. play.yourserver.com), Hytale requires you to verify ownership before your listing can be approved.

After saving your server profile, follow the domain verification steps shown on screen. This typically involves adding a TXT record to your domain's DNS settings with values provided by Hytale. Instructions for popular providers like GoDaddy are included in the verification flow.

Once the record is in place, click Verify to complete this step.

If you are not using a custom domain, skip this step.

Step 3: Wait for Approval

After submitting your profile, Hytale's team will review your application manually. This typically takes 1–7 days depending on the volume of applications.

Your server must comply with Hytale's Server Operator Guidelines and the content rating you selected must accurately reflect what your server offers. Servers that misrepresent their content are subject to enforcement action.

You will be notified once a decision has been made.

Step 4: Link Your Server After Approval

Once approved, you need to link your server to your listing using a discovery token:

  1. Go back to your Hytale Account Manager and open your Server Profile.
  2. Copy your server discovery token. If you need a fresh one, click Regenerate Token.
  3. Open your server's Console tab in your game panel.
  4. Run the following command, replacing [token] with your actual token:
    /discovery link [token]

Your server will now appear in Hytale's in-game Server Discovery list.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does approval take?
Typically 1–7 days. Hytale reviews all applications manually.

My server was approved but isn't showing up — what do I do?
Make sure you ran /discovery link [token] in the console after approval. Also confirm your server is up to date — outdated servers may not appear correctly in the list. You can check by restarting your server and confirming automatic updates are enabled.

Can I update my server listing details later?
Yes. Log in to the Hytale Account Manager, open your Server Profile, make your changes, and save. Updates may take a short time to reflect in-game.

What are player counts based on?
Hytale verifies player counts using client telemetry rather than server-reported numbers. This prevents count inflation and ensures the numbers players see are accurate.

Do I need to re-link after a server restart?
No. The link persists as long as your server stays authenticated. If you regenerate your token, you will need to run /discovery link again with the new token.
